Have you heard - romance is back in style! Why? Because romance is "cool" on a hot summer night.
In today's society, it is important to look for ways to add more romance to our lives. Financial worries, pandemic scares and unemployment fears can dampen our spirits as well as our romantic hearts. Fortunately, adding more romance in our relationships can help to reduce the stress in our lives. A little extra love and romance will nourish our body, mind and soul. Romance is also the perfect supplement for inspiring more happiness in our relationships.
What is romance? The New Lexicon Webster's Dictionary defines romance as "a medieval literary form, initially old French or Provencal, dealing with deeds of chivalry or with historical or mythological events seen in the perspective of a medieval court". This definition suggests that romance is rooted in a man's "good behavior". Does this mean that women are better behaved than men? That was a rhetorical question and there is no need to confirm the answer. How about, if we just agree that romance is equally important for both sexes!
I acknowledge that a man's perspective on romance is probably vastly different from a woman's;
Ladies, please be patient with us. Understand that we want to be more romantic, but most of us guys were never taught how to express our romantic feelings. Encourage us to be romantic, talk to us about what romance means to you and help us become better lovers and partners.
Guys, we need to shift our focus from quantity to quality when it comes to sex and recognize that romance is an essential part of a loving relationship. Romance starts with good communication and continues with kindness and compassion. We do not have to wait until February 14 to don our romantic capes. We can be more creative and spontaneous and surprise our partners with loving treats any night of the week. Cupid might suggest writing a love note, cooking her favorite dinner, or offering her a nice massage (without expectations).
Would you like to experience more romance in your relationship this summer? If you answered "yes", then what are you waiting for? This is an important time to celebrate your relationship with more romance. Couples are under a lot of stress these days and unfortunately, the odds are against us. In today's busy and hectic world, relationships have a fifty-fifty chance of surviving. It is time to slow down and focus our energy on what is really important - our relationships. Do not wait for your partner to initiate the romance because you might be waiting for a long time. The good news is that we usually get back what we give, so trust that you will be rewarded for your romantic efforts. This summer, consider some of these romantic ideas:
- Treat yourselves to a romantic weekend get-away
- Enjoy a romantic picnic in the backyard
- Go for a hike and kiss your partner underneath your favorite tree
- Enjoy breakfast in bed with some fresh strawberries and chocolates.
- Paddle a canoe together and create your own "love boat".
